#28WaystoGive | Buy an ethical gift
People use the phrase ‘it’s the gift that keeps on giving’ – well the good news about ethical gifts is that in many cases, they really do.
Ethical products are sold by various charities and social enterprises, to help them continue their good work.
If you’re stumped for gift ideas for that special someone you can check out our ideas below. Ethical shopping isn’t limited to Christmas gifts, these items are perfect for birthday parties, bridal showers, baby showers, kitchen teas or Secret Santa.
- Oxfam sources their products from ethical artisans and farmers from around the world, ensuring that not only are you buying eco-friendly, when you purchase these products, you are also empowering communities to help themselves out of poverty. Their products include kitchenware, chocolate, coffee and spices, cushions, bags, and even Christmas tree decorations! Perfect for that Secret Santa. You can see where each purchase is from, and even read about the artisans themselves.
- Want to buy something that no one else will think of? The Red Cross provide all kinds of goodies, including gift cards. You can choose from the gift of a helping hand, the gift of water, and the gift of friendship.
- Head to an ethically sourced food shop. Take your own jars and containers to save on the waste!
- Go to websites with many different options, including shopping from social enterprises, Indigenous enterprises or get to ethical markets. Good Spender is one example as is Goodsmiths.
To celebrate #GivingTuesday, we are asking Australians to give a little and then share their efforts with a photo or post on Facebook or LinkedIn. All you need to do is tag @good2give #GivingTuesday with your post.
