Christian faith charities collectively account for the vast majority of not-for-profit welfare services in Australia. Here are three programs to keep your eye out for this Easter.

Many of us have encountered Christian faith charities in our local communities. Whether it be Salvation Army’s op-shop with affordable housing supplies. One of the many UnitingCare aged-care facilities across the country. Or the St Vincent hospital you drive past on the way to work.

In fact, in many ways charity itself is synonymous with Christian theology. Derived from the Latin term Caritas, charity came to mean unconditional love for others. As Christianity evolved, this led to the practice of charity in the community with the sharing of ones time, money or goods to those less fortunate.

There are currently over 150 welfare organisations in Australia on Good2Give’s Workplace Giving Platform working in the areas housing support, financial relief and often cross reaching disability, emergency and medical support. Here are three Christian faith based organisations to keep an eye out for this Easter.

Wesley Mission – Mental Health Service
Wesley Mission is one of Australia’s longest serving charities in Australia, providing support and advocacy for some of the most vulnerable members of our society.

With services across cause areas, their Mental Health Service provides in-patient and day patient treatments, psychiatric support and suicide prevention services throughout New South Wales and inter-state.

Mission Australia – Alcohol, Drugs and Dependencies Support

Mission Australia works across housing security, disability support and mental health to empower children, families and community members across Australia.

Taking a holistic approach to understanding the causes and implications of addiction, Mission Australia’s Alcohol, Drugs and Dependencies Support breaks the cycle of addiction and works towards ongoing personal development.

St Vincent’s De Paul – Advocating for Indigenous Justice

Vinnies has a vision for an Australia transformed by compassion and built on justice. They offer services across Australia,  seek to integrate Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander culture and perspectives to the marrow of our institutions, organisations and the lives of all Australians.

This involves managing projects and advocacy campaigns specific to Aboriginal and Torres State Islander people from the Redfern Statement to more recent Constitutional Recognition.
