Good2Give and Workplace Giving Australia merge to transform Australia’s giving landscape

Australia’s biggest workplace giving Not For Profit organisations join forces to revolutionise giving and help generate millions in donations

2 December 2021, (SYDNEY, NSW) – Today, Australia’s leading workplace giving organisations, Good2Give (G2G) and Workplace Giving Australia (WGA), announced they have merged to transform Australia and New Zealand’s donation landscape.

David Mann will be the CEO of the new entity. David joins the sector with an extensive background in strategy, operations, and technology. Most recently, David was the Managing Director for the Mergers & Acquisition practice of Accenture in APAC, Middle East and Africa.

There are almost 16 million people employed across Australia and New Zealand. Across the two markets, there are approximately 221,000 giving through work. Over $80 million is raised p.a. from workplace donors and since 2001, Good2Give has already delivered $275 m to the charitable sector in Australia.

The merged entity has a united vision and will be laser focused on attracting millions of additional donors to workplace giving.

Through their complementary capabilities and relationships, the merged entity will focus on dramatically reshaping the sector by enabling technology solutions for the future, creating awareness of workplace giving, and motivating the leaders of corporate Australia to get involved. The merger is welcomed following the impacts of COVID-19, which has required charities to reevaluate how they engage with their donors.

David Mann, CEO of the newly merged entity of G2G and WGA, said:

“2020 and 2021 have proven to be two of the most difficult years on record for Australian charities. Following the devastating drought, bushfires and floods, and the ongoing COVID- 19 crisis, Australian donors are experiencing significant fatigue and uncertainty. Yet, funds donated through payroll have remained a consistently important factor and in FY20 over

$80m was raised, with workplace giving participation having grown at over 7% per annum over the last decade.”

“While this progress is positive, it is not enough. There is so much more to be done. Given that less than 2% of working Australians are currently participating in workplace giving, our initial goal as a combined organisation is to dramatically increase the number of Australians participating from just over 210,000 today to 1 million in the near term and with a clear runway to achieving 3 or even 4 million donors.”

As the co-Chairmen of the new entity, Michael Graf (G2G) and Nerida Caesar (WGA), wholeheartedly believe that bringing the organisations together will be the catalyst to dramatically increase workplace giving donations ensuring that Australia and New Zealand become fairer and more equitable societies.

Michael Graf, G2G Chairman said:

“This is an enormously exciting development for the nation. For almost 20 years, G2G and WGA have been working alongside each other. I’m delighted that we can now combine to

create and deliver an exemplary donor experience that ensures giving is transparent, low- cost and of high impact. Together, with our combined resources, we will be able to re-invest and strengthen our services to raise millions more in donations and create deeper connection to the causes that employers and their teams care about.”

Nerida Caesar, WGA Chairman said:

“Working in tandem, our goal will be to ensure that we are the leading destination for charitable giving in Australia and beyond. By 2030, we want to see the new entity contributing $500 million in donations per year. I am confident that we will see our targets reached through our complete end-to-end customer experience utilising robust technology and bespoke consulting. Combining our areas of expertise will ensure that we offer the sector the tools and services needed to truly revolutionise giving.”
