Mission Statement

Dignity Freedom Network strives to restore hope and dignity to lowest caste women and children in India through education, health care, women’s empowerment programmes and economic development.

Approximately 250 - 280 million Indians fall outside the caste system. Previously known as untouchables, they have been stigmatised, dehumanised and exploited for over 3,000 years. For over 2,000 years, tens of thousands of girls have been illegally forced into ritual sex slavery. They are dedicated and initiated without their consent, and usually have no knowledge of what becoming a Jogini will involve. After reaching puberty she becomes the property of the village and can be used by any man, anywhere, anytime; trapped in a life of sexual servitude. Our team work to prevent dedications and provide women with health care and empowerment, access government initiatives and programmes. Our main goal is to see the dismantling of this abhorrent system. With 107 schools across India, 26,000+ children from the untouchable and Other Backward Castes receive an English Medium education and health care, freeing them from possible trafficking and helping them realise their dreams.
